An Italian excellence in the production of measuring instruments

allemano storia

Founded in 1856 by Giuseppe Allemano, the factory was initially focused on heavy metalwork and the production of steam-powered road rollers, one of which was also used by the municipality of Turin. In the early 1900s, Giuseppe left the company to his son Felice, who devoted himself to the study, design, and production of pressure gauges and thermometers as measuring instruments.

Production got under way: Allemano measuring instruments were fitted on-board vessels such as ships, aircraft, submarines, and on the first Italian cars. One of the very first was the Fiat 501, the first car to be mass-produced in the Lingotto factory, and fitted with the 1919 Allemano gauge.

In 1929, the historic factory took a step forward and underwent a major transformation as Felice decided to let his sons take over the organization, changing the name of the factory, which by then had become a company, to Allemano F. & Figli and coming up with the logo that the company still retains today. Production was ramped up, as were the precision machining services for manufacturing pressure gages, thermometers and dynamometers.

In the 1960s, the company started working with the mechanical industry and introduced precision instruments on presses, industrial machinery and systems. In the early 1980s, Allemano conquered yet another market. The company began specializing in the machining, assembly and calibration of diving instruments such as hyperbaric chambers, depth gauges, and decompression gauges. It then acquired the SOS brand and produced the famous Allemano depth gauges which were designed, manufactured, and assembled in the historic Turin factory, and are now exhibited in many diving museums.

In 2019, Allemano’s Misuratori del Tempo, whose design is closely linked to the past, were launched. After an extended period operating in the mechanical industry, Allemano achieved its mission to re-establish the visibility of its brand externally, in direct contact with people, as it had done at the very beginning. The inspiration for the Misuratori del Tempo collection comes from the pressure gauge that was installed 100 years ago on board a FIAT 501.

Thanks to the new 1919 Collection, customers can now enjoy an Allemano instrument not only the dashboard of their car, but also on their wrists.
