BAVA WINES ARE BORN IN THE HILLS OF PIEDMONT, BETWEEN MONFERRATO AND LANGHE, AND REPRESENT THE EXCELLENCE OF ITALIAN WINES.

They are a top-of-the-range product and one of our region’s and the Made in Italy brand’s greatest assets. The story of the Bava family is synonymous with the tradition of Italian winemaking. The business was founded in 1911, when the cellar in Cocconato was built.

Bava wines stem from Italian tradition and heritage. Since the founding of the winery on Strada Monferrato in Cocconato, four generations have guided the company, with a fifth now about to take over. The family’s estate now extends between the Monferrato and Langhe areas, with fifty hectares of vineyards cultivated with the same sensitivity and attention for sustainable, low-impact agriculture as the past.

Looking at the Bava vineyards, one immediately notices the attention the winery pays to the environment. Bava is a company with a low environmental impact and a tradition of sustainability. “Listening to the language of nature and responding to it consistently” is our motto in the vineyard and winery.

Grass clippings and prunings are used as natural fertilizers, while the wooden posts are sourced from renewable forests, and the grass cover between the rows prevents soil erosion. Innovation in farming is achieved by returning to a profound connection with the land. Bava vineyards are grouped around the farmland of Cocconato, Agliano and Castiglione Falletto. Wines from this area are recognized worldwide as unique products of high Italian quality.

The Pieve farmhouse in Cocconato (Asti) produces the family’s signature wine, Barbera d’Asti Superiore Stradivario. In addition to Barbera, a native Piedmontese grape that is gaining popularity is also grown at Cocconato: the Albarossa Rosingana. Two white wines from international grape varieties, Sauvignon Relais Bianc and Chardonnay Thou Bianc, are also produced. Libera (the youngest Barbera) and Pianoalto (Bava’s Nizza red), are produced at the Pianoalto farm in Agliano, which is also in the Asti region. In contrast, the family property in Castiglione Falletto (Cuneo) is the birthplace of Barolo Cru Scarrone and Langhe Nebbiolo Bava.

Bava also produces Moscato d’Asti, Malvasia di Castelnuovo don Bosco Rosetta and Malvasia di Castelnuovo don Bosco Rosé. The Bava brand lends its name to the best Piedmontese wines. This, combined with its tireless efforts to promote our region in its entirety, makes the company an institution when it comes to spreading the unique values of the Made in Italy brand around the world.
