Fondazione Ricerca Molinette (FRM) is a non-profit organization founded in Turin in 2001, whose aim is to support scientific research inside the City of Health and Science University Hospital of Turin, one of the biggest hospital facilities in Italy.
It was proudly established by Franca Segre, the first President, along with some of the most distinguished researchers and clinicians working in the hospital.
The Foundation is first of all dedicated to improving human health by promoting public understanding and support for scientific research. As a sort of bridge between medical research and hospital care, its focus is on translational research, a particular branch of research directed to applying knowledge from basic biology and clinical trials to techniques and tools addressing medical needs. The Foundation’s research groups are the living proof of the commitment to support scientific research and improve available medical treatments and therapies.
During its nearly 20 years of activity Fondazione Ricerca Molinette has funded the work of more than 340 researchers, raising over 12 million euros, granted by banks foundations, companies, public authorities and private donors.
Fondazione Ricerca Molinette also supports the hospital’s concrete needs, both in everyday life and in case of emergency. Among other things, it contributed to the renewal of the spaces of the Subalpine Oncology and Haematology Centre (COES) and of the Breast Unit. During the Covid-19 pandemic, it contributed to build capacities for the Immunology and Virology Laboratory by purchasing new equipment and tools.
