On Sunday, 16 February, Madrid hosted the International Hairdressing Awards 2020 that honoured the cream of the crop in hairdressing. The Global Media Sponsor was Estetica Magazine.
High standards and a warm welcome for the event that involved 1000 professionals from the hairdressing sector and special guests from 30 countries, with finalists from all over the world, including Malaysia and New Zealand.
The hair fashion collection of some of the most celebrated teams in the world walked the runways, including those of Christophe Gaillet and Mark Leeson. The jury was just as illustrious, with names like Antoinette Beenders, Tabatha Coffey, Beverly C., Robert Lobetta, and Tono Sanmartín. On stage waiting to celebrate the winner was Estetica Network Publisher Roberto Pissimiglia, who observed, “…for the world of coiffure this is the night of the Oscars, the award we all wait a whole year for…”.
Among the awards were the International Artistic Team of the Year, won by the Spanish team of X-Presion, and International Hairdresser of the Year, won by Angelo Seminara. For the first time, this year there was also an award in recognition of a professional influencer in social media, the International Hair Influencer of the Year, won by Sam Villa. To conclude the event, the legendary Trevor Sorbie was given the Hair Legend of the Year Award.
